Back to School Shopping? Don't Forget New Bras!

29th Aug 2017

"Back to School" time has always been such a touchpoint in my year. I was a student for most of my life so far, and then I was teaching college classes, so the rhythm of my year has always focused around late August as a point of renewal.

It's fun to buy new things for a new year at school, whether you're behind the desk or the podium. But while you're out there stocking up on new shoes and pants without knee-holes, don't forget to refresh your bras!

Look through your stash and check your bras for signs of wear:

  • the elastic in your band has lost its stretch
  • underwire poking through the lining
  • molded cups have indentations that don't spring back
  • the cups seem stretched or sagging
  • clasps or eye hooks are bent out of shape

Of course, we love it if you want to come buy new bras before you notice these signs of wear! Your bra should be the most comfortable thing you're wearing. It's quietly supporting the weight of your bust for 12+ hour shifts over and over again.

And please don't think we want you to wait until college to start finding bras that fit beautifully. Our friends at Teen Vogue emphasize the importance of a good fitting bra and also remind us that breasts of all sizes are normal, whether you wear an AA cup or a Q cup. We've got bras in those sizes and everything in between. Our staff can help your teen find something tasteful and supportive, whether she needs a quality sports bra, something with underwire, or a soft, wireless option.

If you can't get in to see us in person (or feel more comfortable bra shopping from home), why not check out our Virtual Bra FittingĀ® Bra Sizing Service? Our bra whisperer Judy can find you the perfect bra for the fall semester, whether its your first fitting or your fiftieth.
