Celebrating Women's Equality Day

23rd Aug 2016

Women's Equality Day

On Friday, August 26, the USA will celebrate Women's Equality Day, commemorating the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, giving women the right to vote. The day is not meant to declare that women have achieved equal status, but rather to show how far we have come and encourage women to keep working toward equal pay and equal opportunities.

Our grandmothers were born in a time before women were allowed to vote. We can't wait to honor this collasal change by casting our ballots in November. (We're also digging snooping around on the Library of Congress Flickr page. These pictures of the Suffragettes are amazing!)

In the meantime, Women's Equality Day is an exciting day for us at Levana Bratique. Our founder, Judy Masucci, has been a longtime warrior for women's equality. In her first career in the corporate world, she fought to advance in a male-dominated scientific field. She fought for her rights as a working mother once her son was born. After her career pivot, Judy worked to establish herself as an independent small-business owner.

We know that our customers are joining in the fight for equality, battling the boardroom, raising future feminists, and even helping to write or argue in court the policies that protect our rights. We're excited to support you--literally and virtually.

What does this day represent to you? Leave us a comment to let us know!
