Visible Bra Straps: Faux Pas or Fine Idea?

15th Aug 2016

We've really been enjoying watching Team USA compete in the Rio Summer Olympics--especially the women's gymnastics team. In an interview with People magazine, Nastia Liukin talked about the athletes' special rules regarding fashion at the games. Did you know an athlete can have points deducted if she starts her routine with a visible bra strap? Eep!

Thankfully, for most of us, a visible bra strap is no big deal. Some people even choose to leave their straps visible. We think some of our lacy options are so pretty, we don't mind a bit if the straps peek out. Have you seen the beautiful Andorra bra with matching panties?

If, however, you are looking to keep your straps covered gymnast-style, you'll want several different types of bras to accommodate different types of necklines.

Boat, scoop, and wide necklines require a wide-set bra like a balconette style.

For sleeveless or racer-back tops, your best bet is a racer-back bra. We sell several bras that convert to this style for different and more versatile support. We love this Freya Deco Vibe plunge bra. It's so easy to hook the straps into the racer conversion.

And a plunge bra like the Deco Vibe is what you'll want to keep your bra hidden behind v-neck or plunging necklines.

Of course, if you really want invisible straps, we sell a wonderful (and inexpensive!) strapless bra that also converts into a halter and four other strap configurations. Check it out and let us know what you think!

So what's your preference? Do you like to keep your bra straps hidden away or do you flaunt them as a fashion statement? Leave us a comment to let us know!
