It's All About the Band

When we talk about bras, we tend to emphasize the cup size half of the bra measurement, but at Levana Bratique, we'd argue the band might be more important!
A properly fitting band is so crucial because more than 90% of the support from your bra comes from your band. The larger your breasts are, the most important it is that your band fits properly. That's why we stock a wide range of band sizes, starting at 28 and going up to 46 (with the ability to order outside this range) and a full range of cup sizes for each of these band measurements.
Many women would like a looser band because they don't want to show any back far or bulging skin around the band, but if the band is too loose, the bra rides up and the girls droop down.
To get proper support, you need a properly fitted band, even if that means a little back fat. This doesn't mean the bra band should dig uncomfortably into your skin. Snug and secure is the goal. We carry bras with a wide band, which can help minimize skin bulges and give a smooth shape under clothing. SO MANY lingerie stores carry a limited size range, and will try to fit women in a larger band just to get a large enough cup for their breasts. You should never compromise your band size.
There is some disagreement in the industry about whether the band should lie horizontal across your back or if it should dip slightly--our renowned bra whisperer Judy believes the bra should be slightly lower in the back than in the front. Judy feels bras are much more comfortable this way. Try on your own bras and see--is your band horizontal? Are you comfortable with the fit and support your bra provides?
If not, come on in for an expert fitting. Judy is very passionate about bra bands, so she and her staff will work hard to make sure yours is doing the best job for your body.
